Overview
FEWS NET Network Development purpose and objectives
Network Development (ND) is an innovative field-driven effort to strengthen cooperation and linkages among food security stakeholders who are considered as peers linked together (in a network) by cross-cutting information needs and collaborative analytical processes. The aim is to build effective and sustainable food security information and analysis networks and environments in the countries and regions where the project has a presence.
The objectives of the Network Development sector are the following:
To inculcate a strategic approach to network activities through the articulation of coherent, contextual strategies that provide a framework within which field teams engage with networks to develop capacity and build strong networks through a variety of activities.
To monitor and evaluate the results, impacts, and value added by the FEWS NET project in strengthening local networks and bringing about sustainable improvements in analytical capacities and processes.
To ensure that the results of the collaborative actions and activities by FEWS NET field teams are measurable and result in significant and long term sustained positive change.
To continue to identify new opportunities to strengthen food security analysis in areas and/or networks not yet explored, but with potential to enhance national food security analysis.

FEWS NET Network Development Description: an overview of Network Development at FEWS NET
FEWS NET Network Development Strategy: the strategy outlines the vision for Network Development, the definition and scope, guiding principles, and thoughts on measuring progress.
Network Development Country Strategies: the folder titled “Network Development Country Strategies” includes all of the strategies developed by FEWS NET countries since the inception of Network Development in 2013.
Network Development Field-Level Responsibilities: this document describes expectations of field staff for network development, including formulating the strategy, quarterly reporting, and other requirements for country offices.
